Echoes of strength
2 corinthians 4:8-9
We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken m; struck down but not destroyed.
How is this possible to say especially when we are in very very hard times? How can we say this when our lives are falling apart? When life presses in on us from every side, when we don't know what to do and despair at that fact, how can we say this? When we are persecuted and struck down for our faith, how can we do anything but feel destroyed and forsaken?
By the power and strength of our almighty king. By his grace and mercy he has given to us a comforter the Holy Spirit. It was by his son and his sacrifice that we received this Holy Spirit. And it was this same Holy Spirit that was given to his son. The Holy Spirit that is the seal of our salvation and our direct link to God. It is by this Holy Spirit we have strength through God who gave it unto us.
When we are hard pressed and life and it's burdens seem to be crushing us all around. Through the Holy Spirit God gives us strength enough that we can go on. Not by our own strength but by his. When we do not know, when we can't see what is ahead and despair at that fact. God through the Holy Spirit gives us faith enough to trust for today, and comfort enough to sleep until the next. Then in the morning his mercy is new, as is his wisdom which he gives to us again to have faith and trust one more day. When we are persecuted for his name, when others revile us and condemn us for our beliefs and our faith. Then God gives us through his Holy Spirit, which was given us through his son's sacrifice, enough love to show them mercy, enough grace to forgive them, and an understanding that we are no better. When the stormy waves of the sea of this life knock you down and threaten to overcome you. When they wash over you and it feels as if a mountain has struck you. When all of life's burdens struggles and pains come crashing down to destroy you. God in his abundant steadfast mercy, gives you enough faith to walk on the waves, enough peace to calm the storm, and enough of his presence to protect you from everything around you.
No matter what you are facing today, wether it be emotional, physical, or spiritual. You have the almighty God on your side and no matter what happens in your life he will give you, strength so that you will not be crushed, faith so you will not despair, love and grace so you will not feel abandoned, and enough of his presence to protect you from life's stormy seas.
Hear the echoes of his strength and let him be strong through you.
